Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Misfit Acres provides a home (as space and finances) allow where unfortunate horses/dogs/feral cats may live out their lives in comfort and safety.l
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Misfit Acres has a successful track record for providing a safe, happy home for animals. Established in 1995 and awarded non-profit status in March of 2004, Misfit Acres has said the "final Farewell" to over 20 horses.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The property that houses Misfit Acres is divided into 5 pastures (paddocks) each with shelter, water, and free choice grass hay. Horses are matched up by diet requirements and temperament. Horses are fed morning diet at 6:30 am and evening diet at 7:30 pm. Free access to hay at all times. Dogs are in the home, feral cats have free range of the property, are fed twice daily.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Misfit Acres has opened it's heart to many many animals over the years and had the opportunity to meet and connect with hundreds of animal loving people from all over the country.
Misfit Acres has also become active in dog rescue as well. There are currently 2 dogs residing at Misfit Acres. One puppy was abandoned at Misfit Acres at the age of 4 months and the second puppy was surrendered by her owner when the owner could no longer care for her.
With the threat of Covid 19 at time, housing for animals is desperately needed. Owners are fearful of finances and are looking to cut expense where ever they can which includes giving up their pets.
