What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Healthy Smiles for Tot & Teens Dental Program

Through our Healthy Smiles for Tots & Teens program, we serve as a dental home to more than 3,400 area children annually. Youth are enrolled as early as birth, with the first appointment recommended by age one, and are treated through age 18. All children served receive preventive and restorative dental care, as well as oral health education. Parents are invited into the exam room to review and reinforce healthy home care.

Economically disadvantaged people

Offering oral health education, screenings, fluoride varnish and sealants to area youth in their school setting. All eligible youth served are referred to CSD for regular care.

The American Dental Association’s annual Give Kids A Smile Program is working to eliminate the silent epidemic of dental disease for millions of children. Community Smiles Dental participates annually in February (1-2 days), mobilizing staff and volunteers to serve as many youth as possible.

The goal of this program is to improve oral health and maternal childbirth outcomes for low-income pregnant women and their newborn babies. The program operates in partnership with the Waukesha County’s Women, Infant and Children’s Nutrition Program (WIC) and other local programs that reach low-income pregnant women.

Population(s) Served
Infants and toddlers
Women and girls

Serving adults and children with developmental, cognitive, and physical disabilities, this program is designed to address a gap in access to dental services for individuals with special health needs. Both of our clinics include a special treatment room to provide care in an inclusive, quality and compassionate setting. Our clinicians receive specific training to support the physical, emotional and sensory needs of these patients. This program also includes a partnership with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin to support special needs adults who have aged out of their pediatric dental program.

Population(s) Served
People with disabilities
Economically disadvantaged people

Our Adult Dental Program serves low-income, medically compromised and vulnerable adults. Both clinic locations provide basic dental services to address urgent and emergent dental needs. Additional preventative and restorative care is provided to qualifying adults at our Menomonee Falls clinic.

Economically disadvantaged people
