Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Windber Area Community Kitchen since 2009 has been working to address the issue of food insecurities in our area and surrounding communities by providing home cooked meals free of charge to everyone. We are addressing the need for social interaction for our seniors as well as provide activities for families with children by providing opportunities to engage in arts and crafts during the meals. Through our backpack program we are fighting child hunger. We are working in partnership with our local school district providing meals for students who face food insecurities over weekends and extended holiday breaks during the school year.
