Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange

STEPS provides a safe, home-like environment in which children can visit their non-custodial family members. There are four visitation rooms that are furnished with couches, tables, chairs, toys, activities, books, games, a television and DVD player. These rooms are designed to feel like the den or playrooms in a home. Trained staff from STEPS monitors visitations from family court cases, but also facilitates visitation rooms for AR DCFS cases. There is video/audio recording throughout the visitation center, allowing DCFS staff to monitor their visits outside the visitation room, if desired. When requested, STEPS downloads those recordings for DCFS and/or the court.
STEPS also provides safe exchanges, in which a trained staff member transfers a child from the custodial parent to the non-custodial parent for their unsupervised visits. This provides both parents and the child with a safe, conflict-free exchange, helping to promote a violent-free lifestyle for the child.
