What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

At Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC), our mission is clear: “Striving to provide the best health care to every patient, every day.” Fulfilling this mission means not only reacting to immediate need, but anticipating and preparing to meet our community’s medical needs both now and in the future. Working together with our community, the CAMC Foundation affirms our mission of support of a community based academic medical center. We are expanding our commitment of providing simulation, education, research and learning experiences to professionals throughout our state. Partnerships in learning create benefits for our community – high quality health care, improved patient outcomes, population retention, and economic impact. At CAMC, we bring a full range of services – from primary care, to specialists who are leaders in their field – all focused on making health care better, safer and more accessible for everyone. The CAMC Foundation will continue to help support fulfilling this mission.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The CAMC Foundation strives to support and promote the Charleston Area Medical Center's delivery of excellent and compassionate health services, and its contribution to the quality of life and economic vitality of the region in which it operates.

Developing positive relationships with our donors, board members, and community as well as creating and maintaining donor-centered stewardship and giving opportunities helps the CAMC Foundation support its goal.

The CAMC Foundation develops and maintains positive relationships with its donors, board members, and the community by implementing donor-centered acknowledgement and stewardship processes, and impact driven reporting.

The foundation offers a variety of giving opportunities such as: tribute gifts, planned giving, employee giving, one time gifts, monthly gifts, special events, cash gifts, stock gifts, and 100+ endowed funds that support an array of programs and initiatives at CAMC.

Since 1976 the CAMC Foundation has awarded more than $35 million to help CAMC care for the tiniest patients just entering the world to patients nearing the end of life. In May 2015, CAMC opened the CAMC Cancer Center. $15 million was raised by generous donors in the community to make this much needed facility a reality, a huge success for the CAMC Foundation. Moving forward, the CAMC Foundation will continue to listen to patients and donors alike to understand the needs of the community and make those needs a reality.
