What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Live Arts Programs for the Aging

Our original programming includes In-facility and in-community events. In-facility performances provide live, concert-like experiences in common areas of care facilities. In-community events allow residents of care facilities to attend local arts performances with complimentary admission from organizations such as the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and Civic Theater.

Interactive performances and/or classes are provided three times a week. Music enrichment offer live music experiences in which students can participate with streamers, shaker eggs, percussion instruments, and movement or voice. A dance component offers choreographed movement opportunities for the students. Additionally, a 10-week theatre program, includes learning theatre skills and techniques, culminates in a public adaptive narrative theatre production at the downtown Parkview Physicians Group ArtsLab.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our goal is to enrich the lives of people with limited access to the arts.

By directly creating programs for adults in long-term care facilities, and adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities AUI serves two under-served populations of the community.

Through 52 years AUI has served residents in long-term health care facilities. For the past 7 years, AUI has partnered with L.I.F.E. Adult Day Academy to serve adults with cognitive and developmental disabilities through music, dance, and theatre experiences and participatory activities. AUI will continue to serve these two populations through its past programming, while also expanding its programming to capitalize on new opportunities within our community.

Audiences Unlimited presents over 1,350 one-hour music programs annually in long-term care partner facilities. Our community members who can no longer leave their facility experience joy and cognitive benefits from the interactive music programs and social enrichment through the live programming.

The Music Enrichment (ME) program at LIFE Adult Day Academy (LADA), serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through regular arts participation experiences. 40% of those served live in group homes that have limited access to arts and music experiences. The ME program provides individuals with disabilities group opportunities for structured, shared, and personal social experiences while offering an outlet for appropriate self-expression. Music is a multi-sensory experience that motivates these individuals and helps them bond. Music is easily adapted to a person's abilities. The annual culmination is an adaptive narrative theatre production free to the public featuring LADA actors at the fully accessible ArtsLab.
