Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our primary goal is to never lose a firefighter or police officer due to hypothermia, hyperthermia, heat stroke, dehydration or other preventable condition at an emergency incident.

In support of that goal, we strive to respond to every request for our services and provide the staff, equipment and supplies to perform as expected throughout the incident.

There are multiple factors involved. first, we attempt to have adequate staffing available to respond to all requests for service. Second, to bring adequate equipment, tools, supplies and personnel to each incident to last through the required duration of our deployment. Third, we have a continuous training and process improvement program in place that is reviewed at least annually, Fourth, as soon as a response has been completed, all equipment and supplies used are replenished and/or put back in service - ready for the next deployment.

We have ongoing fund raising to generate sufficient financial resources to underwrite the cost of operations.

We have a volunteer staff of members (currently 24) who are trained to handle every aspect of firefighter rehab, which is mandated in NFPA-1584. We maintain three response vehicles, strategically located to serve the geographical region we serve. Each of these units is fully equipped with the necessary tools and supplies to perform as expected. In addition, several of our members carry limited quantities of supplies in our personal vehicles, so we can act as "first responders" to incidents that occur nearby. We also have primary, secondary and tertiary means for dispatching our personnel and to support interagency communications.

Box 15 has a very positive track record of service to the regions public safety agencies. However, we do have several "needs" to raise our level of service to an even higher plateau. These include additional kerosene heaters, carbon monoxide monitors, inflatable tents and at least one mobile atmosphere-controlled environment, where we can rehab affected personnel in a comfortable, clean air environment. All items are readily available if we can secure adequate funding.
