What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
At the present time, our major programs are:
1. Working with the Grupo Fenix in Nicaragua, where they manufacture and install photovoltaic systems in remote villages; run two women's workshop centers where they construct solar cookers and solar food and herb driers, and educate women in their use; and conduct research research on new forms of renewable energy at the National Engineering University.
2. Engage in research on renewables and conduct solar energy workshops in the United States, mostly in Maine.
3. Work with native groups in developing countires Haiti, India and Mali to set up similar programs to the succesfully operating one in Nicaragua.
Grupo Fenix, Nicaragua
For the last 12 years, Skyheat Associates has been working directly with the Grupo Fenix in Nicaragua, raising money fo finance their work with rural people (particurily women) to bring solar electricity, solar cookers and other renewavle energy developments to remote areas of the country. the priomary work includes training these peopole to manufacture and install their own solar and otehr renewable energy systems.
