Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Comprehensive Free Medical and Dental Clinic
We offer nurse practitioner-managed medical care, which includes an in-house pharmacy; dental care; health education; social services; family planning; breast and cervical cancer screenings; individual and group counseling; and for the general public, free sports physicals, COVID-19 testing and vaccinations. Every patient first sees the nurse practitioner at the clinic for evaluation. All of our nurse practitioners have prescriptive authority and practice under a collaborative agreement with a local physician. Our dental clinic has a partnership with the West Virginia University School of Dentistry where students work with local dentists to provide services. All of our services are provided to our clients free of charge. Donations allow us to continue to realize our potential as a community-supported free clinic. We rigorously screen our patients to make sure they meet our eligibility criteria and do not have access to health care through traditional methods.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
To provide quality primary health care, pharmaceuticals, chronic disease management and prevention education to those individuals at or below 200% of Federal Poverty Level who are uninsured, underinsured or Medicaid and cannot find a local provider.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1. Total Quality Primary Health Care treating the whole person/family to enable better health care management and the ability to remain contributing members of society.
2. Relationships with 7 participating hospitals to secure labs, tests, inpatient, outpatient and surgical interventions when necessary.

4. To provide preventive education to prevent the development of Type 2 Diabetes
5. To provide quality mental health services to all patients in need
6. To meet a very highly unmet need of Adult Dental through the development of Dental Clinic onsite
7. To provide access to the live-sustaining medications necessary to continue to work and remain healthy.
8. To provide access to health care through a relationship with the WVU Eye Institute.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have successfully met these goals for the past thirty years and continue to grow and change as necessary to meet the needs of the uninsured/underinsured in the ever-changing heath care arena. The clinic employees Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioners and has an array of over 100 primary care and specialty care physicians who see the patients of Wheeling Health Right.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
1. Dental Clinic is not open yet. Expecting a December 2015 opening.
2. Working to develop a process to enable MarketPlace patients access our services to meet their yearly deductible of their chosen health insurance plan.
3. Working with Local MCO to help them better achieve their indicators and meet the unmet needs of their clientele. In process.

- We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
