Homeless Outreach

MVHO provides street outreach services in Montgomery County through our Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) program. This program is for persons experiencing street homelessness and living in places not meant for human habitation and diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness or dually diagnosed. MVHO PATH staff refer their clients to providers for mental health care, substance abuse treatment, recovery programs, housing opportunities, and other community resources. MVHO PATH aims to help each individual served to examine their personal goals, achieve their potential, and improve their quality of life.

Miami Valley Housing Opportunities (MVHO) is the premier provider of appropriate, safe, and affordable housing for persons with mental illness, chemical dependency, or other disabilities in Montgomery County. We work collaboratively with community partners to link our tenants with the services they need to live independently.
Tenant Services is involved in all aspects of day-to-day operations at MVHO owned properties. Tenant Operations perform property management and administrative functions to ensure housing stability for tenants who reside in these more than 500 units. Our team assists housing applicants, tenants, and associates. In order to best serve our tenants, we monitor their physical and social environments and work closely with support service providers.
MVHO manages Shelter Plus Care (S+C) rent subsidies from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The S+C subsidies allow us to assist nearly 500 formerly homeless persons with disabilities to live in independent housing. Applicants must meet the very low-income guidelines, which is 50% of the area median income, established by HUD.
MVHO operates two Re-Entry programs. Community Transition Program (CTP) offers adults returning from home from prions a transitional benefit of mental health health and substance use treatment and help with recovery services like housing. Affordable, stable housing helps increase the odds of successful recovery and reintegration and helps people stay connected with the supports they need to thrive. Returning Home Ohio (RHO), a permanent supportive housing program works with individuals released from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. These individuals also have a diagnosis of persistent mental illness or HIV. RHO provides an opportunity for independent housing, easy access to voluntary services, and support that fits the needs of the individual.
The ultimate goal of RHO is successful reintegration into the community.
