Housing Counseling

Reinvestment Partners is a HUD-certified housing counseling agency that offers clients industry experience, an expansive service area, and professional services. With three HUD-certified housing counselors on staff, we have over 20 years of combined experience and reach more than 42 of North Carolina’s 100 counties.

Our housing counselors can help you assess your financial situation, evaluate options if you’re having trouble paying your mortgage, and develop a plan to improve your finances. A counselor offers independent advice, unlike a lender or broker.

The NC-TAC is a coalition effort between Reinvestment Partners, Duke Law School, NCCU School of Law, and numerous other Community Organizations, City, County and State Agencies dedicated to assisting NC taxpayers in utilizing available tax services in and around Durham.

Each year the The Greater Durham TAC Coalition prepares and files thousands of returns for free at Volunteer Income Taxpayer Assistance sites in the Greater Durham area. The Greater Durham TAC Coalition makes a major impact on the need for low cost, high quality tax services.

What does community development mean to us? It means community members coming together to generate thoughtful solutions to common problems, thereby fostering stronger and more resilient communities.

Whether we’re rehabbing distressed residential and commercial properties or encouraging smaller neighborhood improvements, you’ll find us partnering with local government, small businesses, and the average “Joe” to make Geer Street, Durham and North Carolina places you want to be.

Policy advocacy complements our other work in direct services and real estate development. Since our inception, we have approached advocacy with a belief that research adds value to the dialogue with regulators and financial institutions.

In North Carolina, 1 in 7 people is food insecure. More troubling, people living with food insecurity also experience higher rates of diet-related chronic illness. To address the double burden of hunger and poor health, healthcare providers are looking for ways to connect their patients with accessible and healthy food. In response, we’ve developed RP Rx as a produce prescription program that works for providers, patients, and retailers. RP Rx is a cost-effective, efficient way for providers to offer healthy food to their patients who need it most.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Reinvestment Partners seeks to support the local food system and improved nutritional outcomes for very low-income clients; reduce foreclosures, increase homeownership and provide rental housing; stabilize neighborhoods through community development; provide better financial services for the underbanked; and advocate for policies and programs in health reform and financial services that serve low-income communities.

Reinvestment Partners runs a local food hub and a produce prescription program; provides housing counseling and redevelops housing units; works with local communities to improve neighborhoods; and conducts research and advocacy.

Reinvestment Partners has a committed board, talented staff, diversified funding and assets, as well as a track record of competency, compliance, and impact.

Every year we serve over 3,000 clients through direct services. We maintain a pipeline of real estate development projects that meet the diverse needs of communities across the state of North Carolina. We have successfully influenced financial institutions' investments and services for low-income communities, and continue to advocate for improvements.
