Mission

Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, the VIA Institute on Character is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the science of character strengths to the world. We do so by creating and validating surveys of character, supporting researchers, and developing practical strengths-based tools for individuals and professionals, such as therapists, managers and educators. In this spirit, the VIA Survey is offered free of charge worldwide in many languages.

Thriving Learning Community

The Thriving Learning Communities (TLC) program helps students recognize and apply their own unique combination of strengths as they learn how to navigate the world. Using their strengths, students explore how to be the best version of themselves inside and outside school.

We aim to provide researchers with barrier free access to state-of-the-art assessments to measure and assess character strengths and their application. All of the assessments and scales have good reliability and accumulating validity, but we continue to develop and refine them. To this end, we invite your collaboration in the investigation of character strengths
