What we aim to solve New!

Keeshond Sunshine Rescue Foundation (KSRF) provides financial assistance for the medical expenses of purebred rescued Keeshonden in foster care. KSRF does not foster or place rescued Keeshonden. KSRF exists solely to raise and distribute funds to help defray medical costs incurred by individuals or rescue groups to which a foster dog belongs. The scope of KSRF's original mission has expanded from funding Keeshonden rescued from puppy mills to aiding dogs in foster care, regardless of origin. KSRF retains its commitment to helping puppy mill dogs.

KSRF aims to maintain a positive, supportive relationship with rescue organizations and foster volunteers by providing financial support for the medical expenses of purebred rescued Keeshonden in their care.

Fundraising and nationwide outreach are crucial in maintaining the confidence of our donors and supporters, which in hand generates funds that pay for medical expenses of rescued Keeshonden. Methods of fundraising include the annual KSRF Calendar, auctions, and fundraising strategies such as GoFundMe, iGive, GoodShop, Amazon Smile, Walk for a Dog, and Scentsy.

Our web site provides our Mission and Financial Statements, Archives and links to the Zazzle Shop and registered online retailers to earn donations while donors are shopping.

Outreach strategies include easy access to Board members on our web site (www.ksrf.org), by email (info@ksrf.org, KSRFBoard@ksrf.org, ksrfpaws@ksrf.org), and on the KSRF Facebook page. When auctions or fundraising events are held, KSRF regularly contacts email groups including Keeshond-L and Keesdogpark which are not connected with social media.

The KSRF Facebook page is used as a platform to announce fundraising events and inclusive activities for all members of the Keeshond community, including rescuers, rescue organizations, owners, and breeders.

KSRF's financial stability is necessary to provide financial assistance for the medical expenses of purebred rescued Keeshonden in foster care. Our effectiveness is reliant on our ability to consistently raise funds and maintain positive connections with rescue organizations and individuals nationwide. We are committed, capable and dedicated to reaching and surpassing this goal.

The steady number of funding requests from Keeshond rescue organizations and volunteer foster homes is our main progress indicator, validating the need for our continued fundraising and philanthropy. Page activity, new followers, page shares and visits, trending posts, and algorithms are provided by Facebook on the KSRF Facebook page. Data provided documents our weekly progress and alerts us to items that need our immediate attention.

Since 1996, KSRF has provided financial assistance for the medical expenses of purebred rescued Keeshonden in foster care. We have maintained and expanded our donors, volunteers, and followers by way of social media and outreach.

Keeping current followers engaged to encourage promotion of KSRF among their peers is essential. Including noteworthy and entertaining rescue stories and articles with useful educational content on the KSRF Facebook page will encourage more “shares" and bring KSRF to the attention of new followers.

Publishing testimonials on our web site and/or Facebook page from organizations and rescuers who have received financial support from KSRF will help emphasize to the public the unique medical funding we provide.

Regularly thanking donors and volunteers and celebrating the work of rescuers and auction contributors will make people who support us the heroes of KSRF.

Organizational Demographics

In order to support nonprofits and gain valuable insight for the sector, GuideStar worked with D5—a five-year initiative to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in philanthropy—in creating a questionnaire. This section is a voluntary questionnaire that empowers organizations to share information on the demographics of who works in and leads organizations. To protect the identity of individuals, we do not display sexual orientation or disability information for organizations with fewer than 15 staff. Any values displayed in this section are percentages of the total number of individuals in each category (e.g. 20% of all Board members for X organization are female).
