Mission

The Nokota Horse Conservancy exists to ensure the survival of the historically significant and endangered Nokota breed. Our mission is to continue the breeding program to preserve and protect their genetics and to engage in educational outreach that advances an appreciation of the importance of the Nokota horse and the need to sustain its existence for future generations.

Nokota Horse Conservancy Internships

Spend the summer on the plains of North Dakota, learning about and caring for the rare Nokota horses.

Annual event held in Linton,ND. This is an opportunity for participants to experience the herd on the North Dakota Plains, learn about their history and be provided with instructive skills in interacting with wild horses.

The Nokota Horse Conservancy is dedicated to the preservation of the rare and historic Nokota horse. In support of this goal, the NHC maintains a breeding herd of over 70 horses that represent the preserved bloodlines of the original horses that were rescued from the Little Missouri Badlands and Theodore Roosevelt Park.
