What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Annual Back To School Program
The goal of the back to school program is simple but powerful: If we can get all the resources in our community together, we can help economically disadvantaged children (k - 12) start off the new school year right with new backpacks and school supplies.
Christmas Toy Store
The Christmas Toy Store program was created to help families who could not afford to spend much on toys and gifts. Families must financially qualify to participate in this program. They are offered the opportunity to shop for 7-10 gifts per child in their family, based on the number of donations received. Parents/Grandparents come into a store setting (set up by volunteers) with tables of gifts marked with vastly reduced prices. The proceeds from this program benefit the Tracy L. Johnson Scholarship Fund.
Tracy L. Johnson Scholarship
The Loveland Initiative has awarded twenty college scholarships to high-school graduates living in the Loveland City School District. Scholarship applicants are picked based on financial need, academic excellence, and community service. We give out (1) $1,500 scholarship each year.
Cool School Enrichment Program
Cool School Enrichment Program is an after school support program designed for students lacking instruction in their home environment. Many of the students attending Cool School have individualized education programs (IEP’s), which describe any learning disabilities and suggest alternative approaches to instruction.
Set For Success Summer Program
The Loveland Initiative will offer this program to students in grades 5-8. The goal of this program is to teach local kids about responsible habits that will put them on a path to success and guide them in putting those habits into practice. The program consists of a week-long course split into two parts, classroom-style education followed by an hour of service work. For a class to help put students on the path to success we create daily topics that fall under the overarching theme of responsibility.
