Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We seek to accomplish four major goals:
1. Achieve more healthy pregnancies and live births.
2. Prevent unplanned/unwanted pregnancies.
3. Help women with unwanted pregnancies understand they can choose their baby's parents through adoption and the resources available to assist them.
4. Promote reproductive wellness.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We will support women experiencing one of three “journeys”: currently pregnant; planning a pregnancy or an unplanned pregnancy by providing the education, counsel and resources they need.
Web site: we will continually add easy-to-understand articles on the most recent research, procedures, products, options and topics relevant to each journey. The site’s 604+ articles are organized by journey to make it as easy to find information. Popular features include a pregnancy calculator and ovulation calendar.
1. Pregnant women need the latest healthcare information on how to have a health pregnancy. They need to know about so many topics, such as nutrition, DNA testing and cord blood banking.
2. Women seeking to become pregnant need information about infertility issues, procedures and testing products.
3. Women facing an unplanned pregnancy need trusted information to help them with critical decisions from pregnancy symptoms to adoption to abortion recovery.
Our site currently receives more than six million visitors each month and we will continue to SEO optimize articles so information is easily obtainable.
Education call center: users access our trained pregnancy educators via toll-free 800 number and our website chat. Users receive resources and information about a wide range of topics related to reproduction and reproductive health such as how to know you’re pregnant; ovulation window; infertility issues; and options for unplanned pregnancies.
We are planning to launch a remote nurse monitoring & pregnancy education service that will enable pregnant women from all socio-economic and geographic backgrounds have access to quality pregnancy health support and resources.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
In 2021 we launched new web site to better present educational information, resources and our chat feature. Our education content team continuously resources late-breaking research, news and products to craft articles for the site. SEO optimization makes it easy to find our information from key word searches.
APA’s call center functions as our education center and is staffed with professionally trained pregnancy educators who take calls and chats from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
Our weekly e-newsletter provides key information such as how mom’s body is changing and the stage of the baby’s development; what to expect at the next doctor appointment; birth plans and more.
Our educational blog, authored by a two-time mom features tips on how to have a healthy pregnancy including nutrition, exercise, must-have products.
As a result of the pandemic, we researched methods to provide pregnant women with more services. As a result, we have entered into an agreement with Prism Care, a remote nurse monitoring business, to build, launch, market and operate a remote nurse monitoring and pregnancy education service we're calling The Essential Pregnancy Solution.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Currently more than six million users from 70 countries visit our site each month.
Each year, our experienced pregnancy educators counsel about seven thousand callers and chatters.
Our next major project is to launch the Essential Pregnancy Solution by end of 2022/early 2023. We've completed the MOU and draft services agreement. The business plan is in progress.
