Deaf Community Services of San Diego promotes the full participation of deaf and hard-of-hearing people in all aspects of society. We see a DCS that offers a full spectrum of services, resources, and information that are designed to maximize full access and opportunities for members of the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

Interpreting Services

The Interpreting Department has been serving all of San Diego and Imperial Counties since 1974. DCS is the only nonprofit agency in San Diego County that offers a full range of services to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals. Special Services:-Trilingual Interpreting-Legally Certified Interpreters-DeafBlind Interpreting-Educational Interpreters-Signing Aides for K-12 classrooms

Population(s) Served

The Behavioral Health Department offers comprehensive outpatient mental health services to Deaf, DeafBlind, late-deafened, and hard-of-hearing adults, children, adolescents and their families regardless of their age or financial status anywhere in San Diego County. Our services are designed to provide culturally and linguistically affirmative mental health care and the highest quality of services possible. The wide range of services DCS provide includes:-Individual Therapy-Group Therapy-Family/Couples Therapy-Crisis Intervention Services-Comprehensive Domestic Violence & Court-Ordered Services-Advocacy and Referrals-Case Management-HIV/AIDS Support and Education-Independent Living Skills-Parenting Classes-Life Skills Classes-Support/Psychoeducational Groups-Community Outreach

Population(s) Served

The Adult Literacy program works on developing skills in reading, writing, computation, communication using American Sign Language (ASL), employment searching and obtaining, and independent living skills. The Adult Literacy Program at DCS enables you to perform successfully in college or today's workplace by providing you with useful tools: English SkillsCommunication SkillsLife SkillsComputer SkillsCollege & Employment Preparation
