SAN DIEGO HUMAN DIGNITY FOUNDATION

aka SDHDF   |   San Diego, CA   |  www.sdhdf.org

Mission

Founded in July 1996, the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation serves San Diego County's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities as a philanthropic vehicle and resource. Our goal is to raise, invest, and distribute funds in partnership with donors and grantees, seeking to enhance opportunities for and meet the needs of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendered people.

Community based organizations deal with many issues of broad importance and the delivery of critical services on a current and daily basis. Funding for their efforts is frequently tenuous. Knowing the changeable political nature of government programs and funding as well as being aware of the critical services needed on a day to day basis, the Foundation's Board of Directors determined that the best interests of the community would be served with the establishment of an endowment fund from which benefits would be used to grant needed services by assuring funding for service organizations on a long-term basis.
