Martha's began in 1990 when the founders served meals to their homeless neighbors. Today, from its campus in Indio, CA, Martha's Village offers unique life-changing programs based on the nationally-recognized "continuum of care model" breaking the cycle of homelessness. Through this gateway to hope, people regain their lives becoming responsible, self-sufficient and productive citizens, while passing on their newfound independence and life skills to their children and families. What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Martha’s Village and Kitchen is the largest residential homeless services provider in the Coachella Valley. We distinguish ourselves from other providers in the region by taking a unique approach to individualized service delivery and whole-client care. Martha’s has been serving homeless and impoverished families, adults, and children in the Coachella Valley since 1990. What started as a simple soup kitchen has grown into a one-stop site in Indio providing comprehensive services. Last year alone, we served over 6,200 men, women, and children. Homelessness exacts a heavy toll on individuals and families. Along with their need for basic necessities such as food, clothing, and shelter, homeless individuals and families require a stable environment that encourages employment, health, education, and recovery. For those we serve, Martha’s offers a gateway of hope through which people regain their economic stability through income and permanent housing.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Martha's Village and Kitchen, located in the City of Indio, has served homeless and impoverished families and individuals in the Coachella Valley for over 26 years. The mission of Martha's Village and Kitchen is to help our neighbors in need break the cycle of homelessness and poverty by promoting self-sufficiency through an innovative continuum of care, multi-disciplinary programs, and partnerships that come together in the spirit of our CREED (Compassion, Respect, Empathy, Empowerment, and Dignity) to teach, learn from, and challenge our neighbors and one another.

At Martha's, we envision a community in which all people have the opportunity to live to their full potential – a community in which everyone has access to and the ability to maintain meals, housing, healthcare, and education. As one of the largest homeless services provider in the region, our on-site programs include:

• Transitional Housing: Our 120-bed residential facility offers 95 beds for homeless families and 25 beds for homeless single adults. The physical address of Martha's Village and Kitchen is 83-791 Date Avenue, Indio, California 92201-4737.
