Kids Vision for Life

Kids Vision for Life is structured as a partnership between public school districts, EVF, and EVF’s network of corporate and community collaborators. The result is a highly efficient program model that removes the logistical and financial barriers that leave tens of thousands of local children with untreated vision problems. The key to this model’s success is how it delivers services in the most accessible means possible: on-site at children’s schools through mobile clinics and special events such as vision days and community vision fests. In addition to providing vision services at no cost to low-income families, this model also effectively educates parents, teachers, nurses, and administrators about the importance of ongoing vision care. Together with donors like you, we are able to do the following: - Provide free vision exams, in partnership with school districts, to children who exhibit potential vision challenges; - Provide prescription eyeglasses at no cost to children who need them (while allowing the children to pick stylish frames that improve their self-image while ensuring they will wear the glasses); - Raise community awareness about the vision needs of children and the importance of maintaining good eye health; - Connect children and families with ongoing support from an eye doctor for specialized services; - Improve the academic potential and classroom behavior of children who suffer from vision impairment; - Overall, empower children to live better lives through better sight.

Five powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?

Essilor Vision Foundation (EVF) empowers children to reach their full potential by giving them the ability to see clearly. Our goals are to eliminate the barriers of awareness, access, and affordability so that children no longer suffer the lifelong consequences of poor vision.

While some state laws require vision screenings, there is a large gap between the need and access to vision care. EVF focuses on providing no cost vision care for undeserved communities.

EVF's cost to serve is among the lowest in the nation due to in-kind donations of frames, lenses and lab services received from corporate partners. By working with schools, non-profit partners and communities, EVF works to provide under-served children with vision exams and glasses that the are otherwise unlikely to receive.

80% of all vision impairment can be prevented or cured, and therefore each year EVF works to provide more and more children the opportunity to reach their potential by helping them to see clearly.

In 2017, Essilor Vision Foundation celebrated its 10th birthday by reaching an incredible milestone of helping over 500,000 children! Our goal is surpass 1,000,000 children by the year 2020. That's 10 Dallas Cowboy football stadiums full of children!
