Learn 2 Lead Peer Educator Training
Learn 2 Lead is Teens With a Purpose original youth peer leader training program. Youth are trained on evidence and research based interventions designed for youth addressing: dating violence, bullying, conflict resolution, HIV/STI education and awareness. Lear 2 Lead also utilizes youth led youth inspired skits, games, roll play along with original music, poetry and art as an outlet and instument to help inspire and empower young people to make healthier life choices
Camp Inspired!
Camp Inspired is a peer led teen summer program run from June to the end of August. Serving 120 young people. This teen day camp gives youth the opportunity to learn to become peer leaders/mentors while experiencing enhanced arts, cultural, and unique summer adventure workshops and field trips. Camp Inspired is for Norfolk Youth and is funded by The City of Norfolk as free program for Norfolk Residences
Hampton Roads Youth Poets
Hampton Roads Youth Poets is the spoken word division of Teens With a Purpose. Young people learn to use their voices and their talent in spoken word to empower one another and to raise social awareness to issues teens face in today's society. Members of HRYP also compete to be selected to represent Hampton Roads, Va in the worlds largest youth spoken word festival and competition called Brave New Voices.
VIBES/Community Edu-tainment/Teen Forum
VIBES is a monthly TWP open Mic Event were young people come to share their talent. The event is hosted and presented in full, by the youth members of Teens With a Purpose. During the open mic young people are encouraged to participate in a group piece or cypher on a topic related to teen issues. Skits and poems are delivered by members of Teens With a Purpose addressing the topic of the month. At least eight edutainment events are scheduled throughout the year where TWP members visit venues throughout the community, usually by invitation, to deliver a presentation addressing one of our major topics: HVI/STI, Dating Abuse, Bullying, Effective Communication Skills/Conflict Resolution The annual teen forum is created and presented by the peer leaders of Teens With a Purpose. The event includes workshops for parents and teens as well as a theatrical event written, produced and staring youth from throughout Hampton Roads. Like all other TWP events it is presented free of charge to the youth of Hampton Roads.
Educational Enrichment
Youth participating in Purpose Place will have a comfortable space to engage in their
online course work during the school day including breakfast, lunch and an in-person
educational mentor, virtual tutor, and teaching artist there to assist, guide and
motivate. Youth explore and develop new and interesting ways to achieve educational
success.
