What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Y-HAVEN Transitional Housing & Treatment
Y-Haven provides transitional housing, recovery services, treatment for mental illness, educational training, vocational services and permanent housing placement to men who are homeless.
Y-Haven aims to help men live free of drugs and alcohol, become self-sufficient and end their homelessness once and for all.
Y-Haven has the capacity to serve 113 single homeless men at a time in its Transitional Housing program. Y-Haven also serves 14 veterans and oversees the "Open Door" re-entry program which serves up to 45 men at a time leaving prison with no place to go. Referrals to Y-Haven are made through the Coordinated Intake office at 1736 Superior Ave (216-674-6700).
We Run This City Youth Marathon Program
The We Run This City Youth Marathon Program (WRTC) is a collaboration between the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, Cleveland Metropolitan School District, the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon, the Cleveland Department of Public Health and Case Western Reserve University Prevention Research Center for Healthy Neighborhoods.
The 14-week program strives to teach young people to set and achieve goals by preparing them to run in the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon.
But crossing the finish line is just the beginning! Students leave the program with greater self-confidence and increased levels of fitness and endurance.
Healthy Communities Initiative
The Y’s Healthy Communities Initiative is all about making the healthy choice, the easy choice, especially for our inner-city and first ring suburban neighbors who are at the highest risk for lifestyle-related chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. While the initiative’s services are open to anyone, the Healthy Communities Initiative primarily targets African-American and Hispanic/Latino Clevelanders due to their disproportionately high incidence rates of cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Safety Around Water
Providing swim lessons and water safety in the communities we serve.
Youth Development - Child Care
The YMCA serves as one of the largest providers of childcare in Northeast Ohio as well as the United States. We take great pride in our community-wide approach to meeting the needs of working parents and their children.
As a vital community partner to schools and families, the YMCA of Greater Cleveland ensures that affordable, quality care is available to all children. Because parents can be assured that their children are receiving quality care and supervision in a safe and nurturing environment, our childcare and after-school care programs provide parents with the essential tools needed for them to retain and continue employment. Through partnerships with our families, we work together for the optimum development of each child.
