What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Pre Professional School of Dance

The pre-professional school consists of four levels (A-D). Students are evaluated individually and placed into the level where they will benefit most. Classes consist of ballet, pointe, contemporary, variations, modern, and Master Classes taught by renowned teachers. Performing opportunities give students the chance to further develop their artistic and technical skills. Wayne Center for the Arts presents an annual Workshop, a Biannual Nutcracker, and other performance opportunities throughout the year.

Population(s) Served

The Wayne Center for the Arts Community School is a recreational track of classes designed for dancers who want to train but who are either not old enough to enter the pre-professional school or cannot make the time commitment required of the pre-professional program. The Community School uses the same instructors and syllabi as the Pre-Professional School, but is taught at a slower and less technical pace.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We are guided primarily by our mission statement "Enriching lives and strengthening communities through art."

Wayne Center for the Arts strives to achieve this mission though artistic relevancy, accessibility and affordability for all residents of Wayne County while providing services and programs that are of the highest quality.

– Providing professional, courteous, helpful service in an inspiring environment that reflects a high standard of quality

The Wayne Center for the Arts is blessed by a large amount of local community buy in to the mission and vision of the Center.

This includes large financial support from foundations, corporations, and individuals, as well as a bevy of support from individual giving, volunteer, and in-kind donations.

Our staff is highly capable and dedicated and the Board of the Wayne has exhibited the highest level of engagement and responsible leadership.

Most importantly, our students, volunteers, partners, and audience members are eager, encouraging, and supportive of helping the Wayne reach the highest potential for the greater public good.

The Wayne Center for the Arts has become a cultural hub for Wayne County and the metropolitan area of Wooster, OH over the course of the past 4 decades.

For us, it is important to continue to improve and challenge ourselves to offer more for our community and adjust to the changing needs and wants of the industry.

Arts and culture sits at an integral junction of community development, economic growth, educational excellence, and creative place-making. Our leaders want the Wayne to be a partner in the health entrepreneurship, and growth of our region, and doing so requires that we think proactively and imaginatively.

Luckily, imaging and bringing things to life is what we do best.
