What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
In 2008, Wood-Land-Lakes coordinated 183 volunteers, donating more than 1200 hours, benefiting over 70,000 people. We published 44 news articles in local newspapers; displayed projects and activities at 8 workshops, field days, presentations, and exhibits; facilitated 9 group meetings; maintained an up-to-date website with a variety of information; published a quarterly newsletter; assisted in creating 2 new jobs; guided 1 new business start-up and 1 business expansion; and served 135,000 disadvantaged people.
We permanently protect 1770 acres of land from future development.
We co-sponsor Master Naturalist Programs, Woodland and Wildlife Workshops, Forestry Field Days, Tree Planting Workshops, Forage Field Days, and Envirothon Competitions.
We serve on advisory boards to promote water quality management; serve as financial administrators for historic round barn restoration; and serve on steering committees for closing a local landfill.
We promote benefits of purchasing locally produced food and farm products; promote landowners and hunters to donate food products to local food pantries; and disseminate a wealth of information and educational opportunities through our website.
