Mission

Volunteers on an AFC trip can expect to interact one-on-one with children and communities in need while contributing to a major sustainable project that will benefit the country long-term. AFC works throughout the year to accomplish the following goals: To provide unique short-term humanitarian service trips for volunteer participants. To work long-term with international partners to make a greater impact in each and every one of our destinations. To create opportunities for volunteers to participate in educational and enrichment programs at local orphanages, schools, and rescue centers throughout the world. To raise money for sustainable programs. To deliver much needed donations and supplies to our global partners. To engage volunteer travelers long-term through the development of AFC Chapters, raising funds for sustainable programs, collecting in-kind donations, and traveling with a purpose.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Since formation in 1998, AFC has assisted thousands of children and distributed close to $5 million in aid through the implementation of hundreds of service trips.
Example of the sustainable projects AFC supports include:
Increasing access to education through the building of a school in rural Uganda.
Improving literacy through the construction of libraries in Guatemala, Malawi, and India.
Empowering families in El Salvador through micro-financing loans.
Uplifting spirits and encouraging creativity through the implementation of a music school in Serbia.
Supplying and shipping medical equipment to Serbia, El Salvador, Malawi, and Jordan.
Supporting vocational training and street child rehabilitation in Kenya.
And many more!
AFC Chapters are another way to be a part of the AFC mission. AFC Chapters act as the outreach arm of AFC. Chapters spread awareness and raise funds for local and international projects, and are involved in every aspect of the AFC mission, including:
Engaging and educating their communities about international issues and the AFC mission.
Allowing local communities to mobilize volunteers and resources to support children around the world and in their own community.
Coordinating group travel with members or supporting AFC from home, or both!
Chapters are located in high schools, colleges, businesses, and communities.
