Drop-In Center Hours

Through our Drop In Centers we offer a safe environment for students to develop life and social skills, while exploring different opportunities they may not otherwise be exposed to including music, theater arts, culinary, technology, science, leadership training, community service and college and career exploration. We also offer food and recreational activities that teach the importance of physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Transportation is provided through a partnership with East Allen County Schools from Heritage High School to the Cornerstone Youth Center in Monroeville.
Drop In Center is offered at the following times and locations:
Cornerstone Youth Center: Monday-Thursday 3:00-6:00 pm, Friday 3:00-10:00 pm
Cornerstone Connections Project at New Haven Middle School: Monday-Thursday 2:50-5:30 pm for 6-8th grade
Cornerstone Connections Project at Heritage Junior High: Mon, Tue, Thurs: 2:55-5:30 pm, Friday: 2:55- 6 pm.

Population(s) Served

One evening a month, male and female students break off into discussion groups to talk about issues relevant to their sex. They talk about how to be a better person and how to make it in today's world.

Population(s) Served

The Education Center provides students with homework help and one-on-one tutoring after school from 3:30 to 6 p.m. weekdays as needed. Students can make special appointments for personalized tutoring. A computer lab also is available for students to use.

Cornerstone started two new after-school programs in the fall of 2013, one at Heritage Elementary School and the other at New Haven Middle School. Both were made possible through a grant from the Indiana Department of Education. The New Haven Middle School program features STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities such as LEGO robotics as well as substance abuse and prevention education. The Heritage Elementary School program focuses on academic enrichment and improvement, although both programs provide homework help and tutoring. In addition, both programs also feature recreation opportunities.

Summit is our College and Career Exploration program. Through life skills development, guest speakers, college visitations, builder trades exploration, and self-assessments, students have the opportunity to build a grade appropriate Student Discovery Profile that will empower them to gain knowledge that will assist in the transition into adulthood successfully with personal goals and steps to achieve those goals in place. In 2018 we will be expanding our Student Discovery Profile to include all grades from 6-12 and have specific goals for both Junior High and Senior High students. This will enable us to broaden our reach and discussion of the skills needed to succeed once they leave high school.

Cornerstone Youth Center High School group: 3:45-4:30 pm weekly during Drop In hours at Center site during first semester, 6-8 pm Tuesday evenings during second semester. Additional sessions are scheduled during weekend hours for college visitations, and special events.
Cornerstone Connections Project at New Haven Middle School: Tuesdays 3:45-4:45 pm weekly for second semester.
Cornerstone Connections Project at Heritage Junior High School: Thursdays 3:45-4:45 pm weekly during second semester.

Population(s) Served

This program features age appropriate small group discussions focused on ATOD (alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs) prevention. The Middle School programming follows the evidence based curriculum Project Alert. The High School program follows the evidence based curriculum Project Towards No Drugs. Occasionally, Cornerstone will host special events to engage students at times where there would be a higher risk of ATOD use. For example, in the past, Cornerstone Youth Center has hosted a New Year’s Eve Lock-In and partnered with the Heritage High School PTO for after-prom activities.

Cornerstone Youth Center High School group: Tuesdays 6-8 pm for first semester. Additional hours scheduled for special activities when needed. 3:45-4:30 pm one day per week during second semester during Drop In hours.
Cornerstone Connections Project at New Haven Middle School: Tuesdays: 3:45-4:45 pm weekly for first semester
Cornerstone Connections Project at Heritage Junior High School: Thursdays 3:45-4:45 pm weekly sessions for first semester.
