Creating a world of hope through African orphans

aka Horizon International   |   Pendleton, IN   |  www.horizonorphans.com

Mission

Horizon International, founded in 2001, grew out of the tremendous need created by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. We exist to create a world of hope through African orphans. Currently, our ministry is active in five African countries: Ethiopia, South Africa, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. We provide help orphans through a home-based care model (in which orphans live with extended family or foster parents) that is facilitated by local ministry organizations and through cooperation with local church congregations. We also operate a small number of Children's Homes, when home-based care is not available.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our desire is to see these children have their needs met; receive an education and go on to become productive members of society and agents of change in their communities.

Through an active child sponsorship program, these children have their basic needs met, are able to attend school, and have hope for the future.

By pairing a growing base of sponsors and donors in the United States with a network of carefully selected indigenous partners in Africa, we are facilitating care of thousands of orphans as well as additional development programs in their communities.

Hundreds of children have grown up through our sponsorship and into adulthood. Many have received university scholarships and been successful in their university studies and gone on to their careers and are giving back to their local communities.
