CHERISHED COCKERS INC

It takes a village to rescue dogs

aka Cherished Cockers Rescue   |   Mentor, OH   |  www.cherishedcockers.org

Mission

Cherished Cockers Inc. is an Ohio based, all volunteer group of Cocker Spaniel lovers who help Cockers Spaniels receive the lives that they deserve. We are funded by donations and fund raising events which goes directly to helping the Cocker Spaniels that have been rescued by Cherished Cockers Rescue. Cherished Cockers and our volunteers are dedicated to rescuing, whenever possible abandoned, abused, displaced, injured, and surrendered Cocker Spaniels regardless of location, age or physical condition. We then provide them with veterinary care and eventual placement in forever homes where they will be treated as family and receive the love that they deserve. We are active in shutting down puppy mills and finding forever homes for the rescued dogs.

Five powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?

Our goal is to rescue and re-home as many Cocker Spaniels as possible from shelters, backyard breeders and owner surrenders. To teach the public about the need for spay and neuter programs. To shut down puppy mills and educate the public on adopting instead of buying pets. We are also using social media to educate the public on responsible pet ownership.

Raising the funds to pull and rescue dogs and acquiring foster homes as needed. Using social media, face book, twitter, website, etc. to connect with the public and raise awareness of the existence of puppy mills and backyard breeders and educate them on ways to shut them down. Coordinating fundraisers and donations to enable us to continue our mission.

All of our volunteers have access to our face book page to post relevant information pertaining to backyard breeders, puppy mills, illnesses and any pertinent information that will help the public become responsible pet owners.

We are seeing laws passed to shut down backyard breeders and puppy mills in many states. Our face book followers list is growing daily showing that the public is behind us in our efforts.

Progress is slower than we would like but we are limited by funding. As our supporter base grows we are able to take in more needy dogs and rehabilitate them and place them in forever loving homes. We are also rescuing dogs from Korean meat markets by collaborating with rescue groups there. We have successfully rescued 5 dogs so far this year from Korea. We have teamed up with the puppy mill rescue team to get more dogs rescued from puppy mills.
