Founded in 1977, Felines & Canines (formerly Felines Inc.) is a no-kill cageless shelter and adoption center for injured, abused and abandoned cats and dogs. We actively promote spaying and neutering and work to support the relationships between humans and animals. In December 2016, Felines & Canines expanded our mission and organization to include Felines & Canines Rescue Center, which services homeless animals in need throughout Northern Alabama.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our goal is to complete the renovation and expansion of Felines & Canines Rescue Center by December 31, 2017. Our projected first year rescue and rehoming numbers through Felines & Canines Rescue Center is more than 3,000 lives saved.

Partnering with animal control facilities and fellow rescue partners in Northern Alabama to work together as a community to rescue all "adoptable" animals at risk of euthanasia in Northern Alabama. By connecting with both qualified local Alabama adopters, and like-minded adoption centers in Illinois, we will be able to place these homeless animals into appropriate, loving, forever homes.

We have a proven track record of fundraising/expansion/adoption success as we expanded our program's mission to include dogs and underwent a $1M renovation/expansion in 2012 (paid for in full with zero debt) with extraordinary levels of success. Additionally, our annual adoption numbers have increased by nearly 20% every single year since 2012.

We have not only accomplished, but far exceeded, every single goal we've set for Felines & Canines animal shelter, hence our expansion with Felines & Canines Rescue Center in Northern Alabama. We are in the midst of raising the funds needed to finish the construction of the Rescue Center so we can make it operational in 2017.
