District 65 After-School Video Club for Middle-Schoolers
Two five-week sessions, meeting twice weekly, will each provide 15 District 65 middle-school students (6th-8th grade) with training in video production and editing. Participants will learn to use professional-grade video production equipment to shoot and edit Children Crossing, a monthly 30-minute news program for District 65 Television and website.

District 65 Media Arts teachers will train and implement with Louis Glab, Training and Educational Access Coordinator for ECMC. The program will emphasize teaching students to creatively express themselves while developing technical proficiency in digital media production.

Major skill areas students will engage: language arts, creative arts, computing, collaborative problem solving. Students will learn to use and handle field and studio cameras, studios and control rooms, green screen technology and professional editing software.

Session One will be for students from Haven and Bessie Rhodes Schools. Session Two will be for students from Chute and King Lab Schools. Bus transportation to and from the schools will be provided; Club will meet at ECMC from 4:15 to 6:15 PM twice weekly.

Two District 65 Media Arts teachers paid for 20 hours of onsite teaching ($30/hr) plus 4-6 hours of prep time ($20/hr) two round-trip bus routes per session; fruit juice and snack bars.  Each student will pay $15 membership for the Club.  ECMC coordination and teacher training (20 hrs pre-Club, 20 hours per session, at $15.15/hr); office and media supplies for both sessions; 6 copies of professional software for ECMC editing stations (allowing students to work at both District 65 and ECMC)
