As the fourth largest city in Illinois with over 145,000 residents, Naperville has grown very quickly over the time NCTV17 has been in existence. The station has continued to evolve in order to meet the needs of our ever-growing, and increasingly diverse community. However, our primary organizational mission is to help residents stay connected to their community through shared stories.

As the only TV station completely focused on Naperville, the station is committed to providing residents with current information about what is happening in all sectors of their city. Each year NCTV17 strategically assesses the programming we plan to produce and air on the channel to ensure it delivers on the station's mission for our viewers. Every week, the station produces a wide variety of regularly scheduled programming including news, high school and college sports, business talk shows, interviews with Naperville "notables", profiles of not-for-profit organizations, conversations with well known authors, as well as community event coverage. More than 35 individual videos stories are produced on a weekly basis that showcase the many aspects of the Naperville community.

By staying true to our guiding principles NCTV17 will meet its goals. * We tell local stories of significance that both inform and engage the community while simultaneously preserving Naperville's history for generations to come. * We distribute stories in the format and on the platforms that meet the needs of the community. * We provide educational opportunities for residents to fulfill intended purpose of PEG (internships, crew, scout tours, classes) * We engage the community in their local public-access channel.

NCTV17 will know if we are making progress by tracking the number of views for our newscast and individual stories both on the NCTV17 website and YouTube channel. We also track the amount of social media engagement, and increased word-of-mouth about the stories "Naperville News 17" covers. Each week there is an evaluation of each newscast for thoroughness and accuracy in reporting as well as camera and technical quality by the Executive Producer.

NCTV17 has been broadcasting in Naperville for 30 years and has grown into a premier source of information, education and entertainment for this community. Focused on local people, organizations, and events, NCTV17 represents the faces and places of our neighborhoods. The line-up of TV programming is strategically designed to represent all facets of the community and all seven geographical sectors. From news to high school sports to business talk shows to documentaries, NCTV17 provides broad coverage and spotlights what makes Naperville a one-of-a-kind community. Over the past ten years, NCTV17 has evolved from its public access roots to become a true community television station, where a team of professional staff work with community members and student interns to create and broadcast programming that is beneficial to the entire community.
