What we aim to solve
EverThrive Illinois aims to solve the most pressing health problems faced by women and children while advancing racial equity and social justice.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Engaging Community Members
In the last year, we conducted outreach to more than 14,000 people and engaged more than 30 people with lived experience as partners and key advisors in projects to reduce maternal mortality, advance reproductive justice, and promote immunizations. Through the community engagement and outreach strategy, EverThrive Illinois provides education to promote maternal and child health and build partnerships with communities and individuals. We lift up people with lived experiences as experts and key advisors in building projects and initiatives.
Building Capacity of Service Providers
Over the last year, we have engaged hundreds of individuals across dozens of organizations as partners and in events and meetings, including webinars, presentations, steering committees and coalitions, and pilot projects to improve maternal and child health. Through the programmatic strategy, EverThrive Illinois improves the delivery of vital health and human services by promoting cross-sector collaboration, disseminating research and best practices to service providers, and providing specialized training and technical assistance across Illinois. We also partner with organizations to design and implement service delivery innovations.
Changing Systems
In the last year, we have led efforts that directly improve maternal health by improving and transforming the systems designed to support women, children, and families; specifically, we advanced improvements to the WIC program, streamlined administration of the Medicaid program, and increased the number of people who have access to high quality, affordable health insurance. Through our policy strategy, EverThrive Illinois advances and implements systems changes that improve the health of women, children, and families over the lifespan. We do this through a combination of strategies, including by facilitating education, authoring reports, building public awareness, working in coalition, and policy analysis and advocacy.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goal is to achieve health equity for women, children, and families by:
> Advancing access to quality, comprehensive health care, and support services;
> Improving health outcomes of entire communities and populations; and
> Engaging communities to cultivate relationships, build power, and advance shared priorities.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Recognizing that healthy infants, children, mothers, and families are foundational to a healthy society, EverThrive IL is dedicated to promoting and improving their health and well-being through advocacy, education, community engagement, and policy development. Our activities address and support the fundamental principles of equity, social justice, and fair access to care as basic rights of all human beings. We pay particular attention to our society’s most vulnerable communities and individuals—knowing that too often access to quality health care is seen as a privilege and not a right.
EverThrive IL works with communities to understand the lived experiences of those directly impacted by policies and systems. We convene stakeholders, we collaborate to maximize our expertise, and we translate state and federal policies into meaningful, digestible information that helps communities access the services and supports necessary to thrive. We center individuals’ lived experiences to inform and change systems of care and policies that govern our state.
