Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The needs assessment includes an overview of demographic and breast cancer statistics that highlight target areas, groups or issues. Komen Chicago then uses the the needs assessment to make informed decisions on how the Affiliate can use its resources to make the greatest impact on breast cancer in the area through the awarding of local grants for education, screening and treatment programs. Funding for local grants is then aligned with the most significant needs in the community.

Seventy-five percent (75%) of the net proceeds raised by the Affiliate are dedicated to fighting breast cancer locally in the Chicagoland service area. The remaining twenty-five percent (25%) of net proceeds raised support global research. The generosity and spirit of our corporate sponsors, community partners, individual donors and volunteers enables the Affiliate to save the lives of thousands of individuals in the Chicagoland area and work towards our vision of a world without breast cancer.

Through third party fundraisers, Race of the Cures, and creating Komen Teams for Chicago area events such as 5k's, Mud Runs, and the Marathon, we are not only spreading the name of Susan G Komen and the information we provide for breast health, but raise money for underinsured, or uninsured men and women who need to get regular check ups and know what their normal is.

Since our beginning in 1997, Komen Chicago has raised over $16 million towards the fight against breast cancer!
