What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
The CIR's international humanitarian network now extends to people with disabilities in over thirty countries across four continents. Programs include Distance Learning, Innovative Engineering, and Advocacy. See www.cirnetwork.org
Distance Learning: Through capacity building educational programs, the CIR continues to develop a sustainable network of rehabilitation service providers ready to address the needs of neglected individuals and rebuild communities devastated by war and poverty. Currently, CIR educational programs are delivered to 29 rehabilitation clinics serving more than 5,000 amputees per year.
The International Disability Educational Alliance Network (IDEAnet) is a global network of individuals and institutions working collaboratively on issues of importance to people with disabilities, assisting them in their efforts to achieve their full potential.
Innovative Engineering: The CIR also designs innovative prosthetic technology and wheelchair designs that will mobilize people once deemed invisible and ineffective in making contributions to their community.
Advocacy: Through the International Disability Rights Monitor project, the CIR documents the problems, progress, and barriers experienced by people with disabilities.
The CIR has launched the website ConventionYes.org to create an online space to disseminate information and coordinate advocacy efforts in support of the ratification of a strong United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
