Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Equine Dreams' vision is to create a place for all adults and children living with disabilities to come to experience life-long learning in order to foster independence, regardless of ability and income. We are unique in that we offer services to the community free of charge. The demand for services exceeds our capacity. There has been a waiting list for services since the year 2000. Physical expansion is needed where more sessions can be conducted concurrently, and programming expansion will enable increased focus on enhancement of life skills, functional abilities, and pre-job training.

Equine Dreams is currently in the midst of a capital campaign to help the program reach this goal. While Equine Dreams initially began with the focus of therapeutic horseback riding, the program's scope is much more today. For example, beyond providing services to over 100 therapeutic riding participants each week, Equine Dreams has expanded services to reaching group homes, acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and long term care facilities. Equine Dreams brings services to the individuals who are unable to come to them, and between January 2015 and September 2015 delivered mini-horse program beside therapy sessions to 1,175 children and adults. \r\n\r\nEquine Dreams has plans drawn to expand their current center to include an expanded indoor arena with an indoor viewing room, more stalls for their therapy horses, a banquet room for donor events, and sensory rooms; including a physical therapy, occupational therapy and auditory rooms. Program outcomes aim to enhance life skills and independence, so future program expansion may also reduce unemployment for those living with a disability.

Equine Dreams is a PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) Intl Premier Accredited Center. Holding a Premier Accreditation status calls for rigorous adherence to standards set by PATH, including an annual application process. Equine Dreams is also recognized as one of six internationally recognized centers for higher education. \r\nEquine Dreams is proud of its robust team of PATH Intl. certified therapeutic riding instructors. Several are also licensed in other fields such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, audiology and mental health. Equine Dreams is a 501c3 organization. In 2009, they received a donation of nearly 15 acres of land which is now their proud home.

The land is in place. The horses are in place. The staff is in place. What is needed now are funds for facility expansion and our endowment fund. Our mission statement reads our faith enables us to nurture abilities in individuals with special needs. Equine Dreams is a non-profit equine assisted activities organization dedicated to improving independence and quality of life for children and adults living with special needs. We are dedicated to continuing our mission and to continue to provide services to the community free of charge. We are proud of our progress thus far, and look forward to this next chapter of our growth.
