The mission of the Kern Medical Foundation is to help augment funds needed to improve the facilities and services of the hospital; raise and expend funds for capital improvements; educational programs and medical or hospital related research; and provide financial assistance for the improvement of health, safety and general welfare of the hospital and thus the community.

Since 1867, Kern Medical has provided care for the most vulnerable people in Kern County. Kern Medical is anchored by a range of highly respected specialties including Trauma, the Center for Women & Children, an academic teaching hospital affiliated with UCLA, rounding out the continuum of care is an array of primary and specialty care services provided though the Kern Medical Outpatient Clinics. As an academic institution, Kern Medical is committed to medical education and research. We have served as the training facility for many physicians who are currently practicing in Kern County.

Valley Fever Institute at Kern Medical

Our mission is to increase education & awareness for the public, patients and health care providers; provide the best patient care available and conduct research that includes epidemiology, clinical drug development, prevention, immunology and immunizations.” Royce Johnson, MD, Medical Director of The Valley Fever Institute at Kern Medical.

Our commitment is to ensure all newborns in our community have a safe sleeping environment. Education is a critical part of the program. The Kern Medical Birth Center provides lifesaving instruction on proper safe sleeping practices, prior to providing a crib for a family.

The Alumni Society was designed to keep the graduates of Kern Medicals Residency programs, as well as Faculty who have taught at Kern Medical connected. Funds raised support Resident and Medical Student Education at Kern Medical.

Kern Medical’s Oncology Program brings world-class technology and comprehensive treatment and personalized, compassionate cancer care close to home. We care for people with advanced stages of all types of cancers and care for each person as though they are family.
