Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois is celebrating its 30th anniversary serving families in 2016. Over the past 30 years, we have served over 12,000 families, providing a place to keep families close while their child receives medical care. In 2019, we will be opening a new Ronald McDonald House in Peoria, IL in addition to the one that has been serving families since 1986.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our organizational strategies include strong partnerships with area medical facilities in order to be able to provide assistance to families during a time of medical crisis for their child.
We continue to seek new ways to reach families at a time when they need it most, including adding programs as need is demonstrated and to plan for additional programs to prepare for future needs of our families.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Over the past 5 years, our organization has doubled its volunteer base, thus giving the chapter a firm foundation on which to serve more families and expand its programs. The organization operates through a small paid staff and an all volunteer Board of Directors consisting of local health professionals, McDonald's owner/operators, and community, business and civic leaders.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In 2019, we will be opening a new Ronald McDonald House in Peoria, IL expected to serve over 700 families each year. In 2014, we renovated the Ronald McDonald House in Springfield during our "Labor of Love" expansion and renovation project. This was the first complete remodel of the House since it opened nearly 30+ years ago. We added two additional guest bedrooms, a handicap accessible entry and interior, and additional family amenities.
