DETROIT SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

In April 2011, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra launched the groundbreaking Live from Orchestra Hall webcast series at dso.org/live, becoming the first orchestra in the world to offer a series of free live webcasts for a global audience. Since then Live from Orchestra Hall expanded to include mobile viewing; partnered with the world’s top classical streaming sites, including France-based Medici.tv, Russia-based Paraclassics.com, and UK-based ClassicalTV.com, and produced three symphonic-cycle albums: the nine Beethoven symphonies, six Tchaikovsky symphonies, and Brahms’s four symphonies. Live from Orchestra Hall: Classroom Edition was created in 2014, which streams educational concerts directly to school classrooms. In 2015, the DSO introduced DSO Replay, a site for on-demand videos in the Live from Orchestra Hall series. Now watched in over 75 countries, the Live from Orchestra Hall webcast series is presented by the Ford Motor Company Fund, made possible by the generous support of the John S. and James L. The William Davidson Neighborhood Concert Series plays to sell-out audiences in seven metro Detroit performance residencies. Through the generous support of the William Davidson Foundation, the DSO presents this series of concerts throughout metro Detroit as well as additional activities outside of Orchestra Hall. Since its inception in 2011, the series has grown from six venues to seven, stretching from Plymouth to Clinton Township and Southfield to West Bloomfield . In addition to traditional concerts, the Neighborhood Residency Initiative allows musicians to perform in non-traditional settings for diverse audiences. Throughout the season, DSO musicians perform in metro Detroit schools, senior homes, hospitals, farmer’s markets, libraries, places of worship and myriad other unexpected places.
