Annual series of 60-75 public performances offered encompassing music, dance, theater, and multi-disciplinary arts.

UMS's Education and Community Engagement Programs offer over 100
activities every season that benefit K-12 students and teachers, university
students, families, adults, and community groups in the southeast Michigan region.

Learning is core to UMS’s mission, and it is our joy to provide creative learning experiences for our entire community. Each season, we offer a fun and fascinating lineup of workshops, artist Q&As, conversations, and interactive experiences to draw audiences in and out of their comfort zone, connect them to interesting people and unexpected ideas, and bring them closer to the heart of the artistic experience. Our Education and Community Engagement programs exist to create a spark in people, young and old alike, exposing them to things they haven’t seen before, and leaving them with a lifelong passion for creativity and the performing arts.

UMS offers a wide range of digital content, all offered free of charge so that programs are accessible to as many as possible. Programs include livestreams of select concerts, masterclasses, and lectures/discussions; 'UMS Live' sessions (on-demand recordings of concerts); Digital School Day Performances targeted to K-12 classrooms; and special Digital Presentations created specifically for the digital frame.
