Academics
Kettering University is consistently ranked among the country’s best universities for return on investment and career preparation. Worldwide, we are known for educating influential and successful leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, engineers, scientists and business people. Our recently launched Bright Future initiative builds on our century old reputation for innovation, creativity and excellence. The initiative refocuses our nationally recognized academic programs to emphasize our core strengths: engineering, automotive innovation and mobility. These changes will revitalize the curricula and infuse innovation, creativity and a cross-disciplinary focus into the educational experience of all Kettering students. Together, our programs create an academic experience that is empowering and transformational, providing students with the learning skills that support life-long growth in a rapidly changing world.
Undergraduate Programs
The undergraduate program at Kettering University is like no other. Our students experience a rigorous undergraduate academic curriculum in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and business combined with applied professional experiences. We know theory and practice are two equal parts that ensure future success. This unique and innovative cooperative education model allows students to almost immediately apply what they learn in the classroom and labs at their co-op employment position and apply what they've learned at their co-op to the classroom and labs. Our students emerge as innovators and as doers ready to work.
Graduate Programs
The highly respected and accredited graduate programs at Kettering University take our students further. Our postgraduate experience is the answer for students seeking growth, new ideas and personal evolution. Alumni call our rigorous, respected and practical programs transformational, life-changing and inspirational.
Kettering GM Mobility Research Center
The 21-acre, $7.5 million, state-of-the-art Kettering University GM Mobility Research Center is the only one of its kind on a college campus in the US. An autonomous vehicle testing track, the outdoor lab space and proving ground enhances faculty, student, and industry research and development of autonomous vehicles, vehicle safety standards, and hybrid and electric vehicle technologies, among other uses. The complex puts Kettering at the forefront of the rapidly evolving autonomous vehicle industry. Among the track’s features are a 3.25-acre customizable all-weather test pad built to race track performance specifications with low-speed handling loops; elevation and surface change with diverse testing environments; and a fully customizable experience with straightaway distances of up to 500 feet. It also includes a 15-foot-wide oval course, S-curves, and straightaways ideal for V2V and V2I testing. It is available for year-round, 24-hour testing.
Co-op
Since 1919, Kettering University has been a national pace-setter for cooperative education. Our program is one of the most-advanced co-ops in the country. We know this type of learning more thoroughly prepares students for a lifetime of professional success. That’s why it is built into our undergraduate experience right from the start. Students rotate between the classroom and real-life work experiences during their entire time at Kettering. By the time our students graduate, they will have not only a degree from one of the nation’s finest universities, but also 2.5 years of professional experience on their resume.
