What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Scholarships

The Foundation awards scholarships for post secondary education through 6 different scholarship funds for high school seniors to attend college or career training. The Foundation also awards scholarships to students currently attending college as well as adults wishing to return to school or career training. Scholarships are also available to high school students for camps focusing on music. Budgeted amounts for each program vary from year to year based on endowment investment return.

The Cornerstone Grant Program is open to nonprofit groups and/or organizations that hold a 501(c)(3) status, that wish to offer a program or project to benefit the quality of life for Cadillac Area residents. Consideration is given to organizations and projects that make a substantial contribution toward the delivery of services in this area. Geographic focus of the Program is specifically the Cadillac Area Public Schools District (CAPS). General Program areas are: culture and the arts, economic development, education, environment and recreation, health, and human services. The general purpose is to promote our quality of life through creative and innovative programs.

The Cadillac & Kellogg for Youth Grant Program is administered by the Youth Committee, an advisory committee to the Cadillac Area Community Foundation Board of Trustees. The Committee recommends grants to the Foundation Board from the permanently endowed Youth Fund. Grant awards from this fund may be awarded for youth projects and programs ONLY. (It is expected that the majority of grants will be for $1,000 or less)
Grants shall be awarded to qualified non-profit groups and/or organizations that hold a 501(c)(3) status, and wish to offer a program or project to benefit youth, ages 0 – 18 who reside within the Cadillac Area Public School district. Priority consideration will be given to applicants that: demonstrate an innovative, unique project or program; identify specific needs or interests of young people, with a project or program designed to meet these needs or interests; illustrate creative uses for grant money to enhance youth learning, leadership, and growth in our area. Grant budget varies.

Grants are available for qualified nonprofit educational institutions and/or nonprofit agencies, for innovative educational projects or programs. These institutional/nonprofit applicants must be located within the Wexford-Missaukee ISD.

Grants to assist Wexford and Missaukee County Veterans, their spouses and dependents with emergency needs. Examples of such needs could be transportation to health and human services at veteran-approved facilities, personal emergencies, critical needs related to housing, heating, or home repairs, and even short-term funds to meet personal needs while Veterans Affairs claims are being processed.

Cadillac Area Women’s Giving Circle is a group of women philanthropists that have pooled their funds to annually award grants addressing the needs of women and girls and promote their economic self-sufficiency and well-being. This group is financially committed to making a difference in the lives of community women in need.
