What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
The Washtenaw Land Trust practices conservation through private action by working with landowners to permanently protect the features of their property that make our region a special place to work, live, and play. The Land Trust acquires land for nature preserves that are enjoyed by the public. The organization also helps develop voluntary, permanent conservation agreements that ensure a legacy of open spaces for future generations, while keeping the land in private hands. In addition, the Land Trust works closely with local farmers to help them secure local, state and federal funding for farmland preservation. Lastly, the Land Trust works to educate citizens and government bodies about the methods and benefits of land preservation.
