What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Mid-America Pension Rights Project
Pension Rights Counseling assists retirees of any age or any income with retirement benefits. The rights of divorced persons, assistance for surviving spouses benefits, and help finding lost pensions are included. The program provides information, legal counseling, and advocacy from the first phone call through an administrative appeal. There is no charge to the client for these services. This program is funded by the Administration for Community Living and has recovered over $83M in pension benefits for 16,000 clients since it started in 1998.
MiCAFE - Assistance with Food, Benefits & Health Care
Assistance with Food, Benefits & Health Care helps apply for benefits that meet their basic needs including utilities, food, housing, medical assistance and prescription drugs. Application assistance is available in person and over the telephone, and is primarily for people age 60 and older. We also provide nutrition education, food preparation tips, and much more.
Protection of Vulnerable Adults
Elder Abuse Prevention includes training and technical assistance to communities, government, human services and members of the legal system and law enforcement to help people prevent and respond to abuse and financial exploitation of vulnerable adults.
Pooled Account Trust offers the opportunity to set money aside for the care and future needs of someone under 65 who is living with a disability at a low cost. The trust protects Medicaid, SSI and other benefits for long term care needs. Visit our website for more information.
