What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

AWA primarily provides missionary pilots and airplanes to areas of the world that are hard to reach. Our larges needs are: 1. Financial support for all of our active projects to provide for fuel for emergency medical transports, purchasing humanitarian supplies, providing transport to medical and dental clinic teams, government and missionary workers helping the local villagers. 2. Recruitment and training of missionary pilots 3. Airplane maintanence - Airplanes are expensive to maintain and operate and keeping them in serve able condition can be challenging in remote areas. 3. Airbase maintanence and infrastructure needs - the runways are not paved, planes need hangars to shelter them from the weather and missionary families need housing (including power, water and sanitation, utilities and communication).

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

AWA will continue to serve the people in hard to reach areas of the world who need our assistance. We will continue to share the love of Jesus to those that we meet. We will look for areas of the world to expand our operations to as resources allow and to partner with other organizations that have similar missions and visions as AWA's to better serve those in need.
AWA primarily provides emergency medical transports to the sick and injured. It is our goal to help as many people as possible in the remote villages of Guyana, Nicaragua, Philippines, Alaska and Canada.
AWA provides services to all in need, free of charge.

AWA has established permanent airbase mission sites in Guyana, Nicaragua, Philippines, Alaska and Canada. Our missionaries make 6 year committments to serve at their selected location. We strive to build relationships with the local villagers and governmental officials to best serve the needs of the communities we have access to. We depend on donors to fund our airbase mission projects and provide monthly missionary newsletters and quarterly Airways magazines to keep our donors informed about project accomplishments and needs. AWA maintains a website at www.flyawa.org and posts videos on our YouTube channel.
AWA is working with other organizations to explore additonal mission opportunities.
We are currently looking to expand to Brazil and Uganda.
Once a site it selected, a missionary pilot is recruited and trained.
An appropriate plane is outfitted to be suitable for the flying conditions in the selected country and arrangements are made with local authorities and partnering mission agencies to select an appropriate site for an airbase.
AWA has a strong following of donors that support our missions. We continue to reach out to new donors to provide the support needed to maintain the current mission sites and expand to the new locations.

AWA has been successful at increasing awareness and donations.
AWA uses direct mail, email and social media to share our message and increase awareness for our needs.
The organization is operated in a fiscally responsible manner and has a small but effecient staff.
As needs arise, AWA works to meet the needs, creating fundraising appeals in a timely fashion and reaching out to dedicated supporters as necessary.
AWA works with other non-profit organizations to share resources when we are able.
AWA has a strong relationship with the Seventh Day Adventist Church community and other christian faith based organizations with whom we work.
All of these connections will allow AWA to grow strategically.

AWA has active mission airbase sites in Guyana, Nicaragua, Philippines, Canada and Alaska.
Currently we have 5 new missionary pilots in training. All AWA pilots must complete their private, commercial and Instruments ratings and complete their A & P certification before they are eligible to deploy in the field.

We are planning to expand to Brazil, with a plane currently being overhauled for deployment in that country.
In December 2017 AWA received a donated plane to be overhauled for use in Uganda. AWA has been invited to partner with other missionary organizations already working in Uganda but in need of air transport for their missionary workers and villagers in need of medical care.
That plane must have a diesel engine installed that can burn jet fuel because aviation gasoline is very costly and hard to access in Uganda. Jet fuel is more cost effective and readily available. The completed overhaul is expected to be done by the end of 2020.
