REDEEMER CITY TO CITY
We help leaders start churches in global cities.
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The majority of the world’s population lives in cities—a statistic that is predicted to grow globally over the next 50 years. This urban population growth currently outpaces the growth of the church. Cities are centers of profound potential and significant challenges. For centuries people have migrated to cities, attracted by the promise of opportunity and freedom. This brings diverse people, religions and customs into close proximity, creating wonderful opportunities and considerable complexities, especially as we think about how to reach the people in these cities with the gospel. The great complexity of cities means that no one church, denomination or organization can reach an entire city with the gospel. Instead, it takes a gospel movement—different people and churches uniting under a common mission to share the gospel in every language, to every culture, and applied to all the challenges of city life. It takes hearts committed to unity and a spirit of collaboration, equipped wit
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Incubator
The Incubator is our key two-year program to serve, train and develop urban church planters. The Incubator is delivered through local trainers: participants get practical help with writing their action plan, ministry development and preaching.
International Intensive
The International Intensive is a two to four week program held in New York City and Asia for leaders who live in cities where Incubator isn't offered.
The program is designed to prepare urban church planters by exposing them to urban church planting concepts, theological resources to grow churches, leadership modules, and other church planting principles.
Participants in the Intensive are selected through an extensive recruiting and screening process.
Train the Trainer
This program empowers local leaders by orienting them to City to City's Incubator curriculum so they can facilitate Incubator with church planters in their city or region.
Gospel in the CIty
This two-day learning experience provides a theological and practical understanding of how the gospel shapes the heart, a church and a city.
Coaching
New church planters are paired with a City to City trained, experienced church planter and coached to navigate ministry challenges and apply the gospel to their lives.
Online Learning
Individuals or church teams access practical, experience-based classes on topics such as ministry design, calling and movement dynamics.
CTC Partnership
This two-year program takes a cohort of established U.S. churches, partners them financially with a new church or network in a global city and provides customized training from Tim Keller and the City to City team.
Apprentice
City to City comes alongside New York City pastors to help them develop high-potential young men and women in their congregations. Participants are nominated by their pastors and attend monthly sessions that address topics such as gospel theology and renewal, identifying calling and cultural engagement.
City Lab
City Lab is a bi-monthly, half-day training experience for New York City church leadership teams. Each event includes a plenary talk, Q&A with Tim Keller and round table discussions.
City Ministry Program
New York City leaders are equipped for urban ministry fruitfulness in this one to two year certificate program taught by Tim Keller and other urban ministry practitioners.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Mission: We prayerfully help leaders start and strengthen churches to advance the gospel together in their city.
Vision: To see the gospel of Jesus Christ transform lives and impact cities.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Redeemer City to City's (RCTC) work around the world is largely accomplished through regional partners, organized by geographical regions. These partners oversee church planting training and coaching focused on church multiplication, gospel renewal and city impact. RCTC strategically partners at varying levels financially, operationally and relationally. Regional partners work with RCTC to prioritize work in key cities called hub cities through an initiative called the Hub City Strategy. These cities are the focus of the deepest work and intended to resource other cities in the region.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We draw upon the experiences of our founder, Tim Keller, and other seasoned church planters around the world to share a curriculum that serves ministry leaders in cities on six continents.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
As of year end 2021, City to City's cumulative metrics:
Number of leaders trained and impacted - 79,149
Churches started - 978

- We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
- We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
- We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
