Mission

People with disabilities often experience abuse, neglect and other violations of their rights. Since 1977 Disabilty Rights Wisconsin  has been working staewide to advocate the rights of people with disabilities. DRW's mission is to work toward a future in which "All person with disabilities and their families shall be empowered to exercise and enjoy the full extent of their rights and to pursue the greatest possible quality of life."

WCA provides advocacy to persons with developmental disabilities, mental illness, physical and sensory disabilities and their families on a variety of issues, including abuse neglect in institutions and the community, access to appropriate treatment, special education rights, and accessibility and discrimination problems in employment, transportation, housing, and insurance. WE engage in a variety of advocacy strategies such as: - providing information, advice, referral and guidance in self advocacy to consumers and their families -providing individual advocacy which could include investigating,negotiating or mediating on the behalf of persons with disabilities - legal representation -training to parents, consumers, and professionals -legislative advocacy and coalition building -class action and impact litigation
