Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

WCM provides exceptional music instruction by over 30 faculty members. Our goal is to provide music instruction through lessons, classes, ensembles, camps, and festivals that compliment the musical outcomes students set with their instructors assistance.

Our programs partner with area music teachers to help students reach their full potential. We have more performances at WCM than any other venue in Central Wisconsin, with over 80 concerts a year.

As a regional performing art schools, we serve students in our county (90%), while 10% of students come from central and northern Wisconsin.

Talent can come from anywhere regardless of the ability to pay tuition. WCM has a strong tuition assistance program ($45,000 a year is given out based on financial applications) and also has many endowed scholarships.

Wausau Conservatory mains strong ties with area music teachers. Over 85% of our students find us through music teachers recommendations.

Our goal is to find and introduce music lessons to individuals of all ages. Our music camps involve the best music teachers in our community to teach along side our faculty members. Our Jazz Festivals brings up to 10 schools together to support jazz instruction that concludes with a concert with the participants.

Through many planned gifts, half of our tuition assistance is annually supported by the interest from endowments, while the other half is raised through annual events.

The Conservatory was started in 1981. The faculty at the Conservatory are committed to exemplary musical instruction for each students. On average our faculty has been at WCM for 16 years and on average we have one teacher change a year. Our students participate in many competitions.

The Wausau Conservatory has an incredible facility (20,000 sq feet), with the Caroline Mark Concert Hall that seats 160 people. The facility from the vision of Caroline Mark, the board of directors and Dr. George Tepping, ED. The building has no debt, and has an endowment to pay for the building upkeep.

The office staff both have been at WCM for over 14 years.

Stability: Our enrollment continues to stay constant for the past five years.

Economy: We provide jobs in our community with 35 employees.

Plus, our Economic Impact is 2.8 million dollar to Wausau. That is students buy musical instruments, music, food before lessons. With over 80 concerts, people come for dinner, by gas etc.
