Medical Care

The AFC is the only healthcare resource in Washington County dedicated to serving as a safety net for low-income residents or employees. Many AFC patients are employed but living paycheck to paycheck, struggling to afford basic needs. Patients may be between jobs, juggling multiple part-time positions, working for an employer that does not offer insurance, or simply unable to afford the rising costs of premiums and deductibles.

Evening clinics are offered twice weekly for patients with acute medical needs. Daytime appointments are available for chronic care patients needing ongoing support for issues such as diabetes, hypertension, respiratory conditions, and high cholesterol. A telehealth option was added in 2020 for patients experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or transportation challenges.
