What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Education and Community Engagement
The Minnesota Orchestra’s education programs reach young people in our community with accessible and enriching programming, including concerts and classroom activities. At the heart of our youth education programming is the Young People’s Concert program – a century-old tradition that is continually refined to make concerts more accessible and enriching to young audiences. We also engage the public through the side-by-side rehearsal program with youth orchestras, the Symphonic Adventures program in high school auditoriums, and a wide range of collaborative events and concerts in the lobby and Target Atrium. These programs engage more 60,000 youth annually.
Concert Season
Each year, the Minnesota Orchestra reaches more than 250,000 people of all ages through performances and presentations at Orchestra Hall. Music Director Thomas Søndergård and the musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra annually design and perform a classical concert season that has established the Orchestra as one of the world's greatest. In addition, the Live at Orchestra Hall series features popular music, jazz, Broadway classics, movie scores, world music and more. The season also includes a wide range of seasonal holiday programming delight and the annual Sommerfest series.
Beyond Orchestra Hall
The Minnesota Orchestra is building and deepening connections with music-lovers wherever they are. This commitment includes regular tours and residencies in Greater Minnesota, and a series of free outdoor concerts in Twin Cities parks each summer. The Minnesota Orchestra also delivers a series of concerts designed for television, radio, and streaming audiences, which provide audiences around the world with free access to live and on-demand concerts.
