Local Assistance

Besides its global activities, The Connecting Connection serves families and nonprofit organizations within a 70-mile radius of Red Wing, Minnesota. Currently we receive family referrals from the local Women's Shelter, the Crisis Nursery, the Abused Children's Program (ACP), Catholic Charities, and Transitional Housing. Depending on the extent of need of the family, we negotiate volunteer hours with the family in exchange for helping them to furnish their homes with necessary furniture, kitchen supplies, and linens.

1. Welcome to Your New Home baskets

TCC assembles baskets of goods for women who have completed the Haven of Hope's curriculum. The baskets are laundry baskets filled with paper towels, toilet paper, toilet cleaner, bathroom cleaner, toilet brush, spray cleaner, dish soap, Handi-Wipes, garbage bags, detergent, trash bags, pot holders, tea towels, pencils, pens and note pad, envelopes, scissor. Also included are personal products for the mom: bath scrubbie, shower gel, shampoo, lotion, hand soaps, toothpaste and brushes.


2. Easter Baskets

TCC assembles Easter Baskets to provide Easter dinner to a family. This includes a ham, fresh potatoes, onions and carrots, corn and green beans, jello salad, dessert, eggs, buns and milk. Each child gets a small Easter basket.


3. Family Breakfast Basket for Christmas.

TCC assembles baskets at Christmas. Includes cold cereal, hot cereal, fresh potatoes and onions, sausage and bacon, fresh fruit, milk, and hot chocolate.
